The Best Sandwich in Ottawa

I know, it's a big claim... but trust me.

And for $4.87 a pop, no one can dispute that the Famous La Bottega Take-out Sandwich, is one of the best deals in town.

These fresh, made-to-order, Italian sandwiches are simply the best, because they are so simple. You pick the deli meat, you pick the fresh-baked bread, you pick your fine cheese. So simple but oh so good when you have the highest quality ingredients making up your meal.

FYI, you can ask for half of one meat and half of another to increase your flavour profile. I personally enjoy a prosciutto and capicollo combination. And I like to match it with a hard aged provolone.

Although in my opinion, there is one condiment that makes or breaks the whole deal. You have got to ask for the hot eggplant... The piquant aubergines transform the already great sandwich into the ultimate sandwich.

Interestingly, Ottawa Magazine did not mention this sandwich on their list of 101 Tastes To Try Before You Die. But now you know!
